We seal the exterior walls of your house, from preparing the wall to the final plastering in the color you choose.
What is thermal insulation
Thermal cladding is the thermal insulation of the walls from the exterior side of the building. Thermal insulation panels are glued to the walls and fixed; they are reinforced with a mesh and finished with colored acrylic plaster.
Thus the building is «dressed» with a continuous insulating shell and at the same time it takes on a new appearance.
What do you gain?
- A warmer house in the winter, a cooler one in the summer. Insulation limits the heat that escapes or enters through the walls, so heating and air conditioning work less.
- The beams and the columns are also being assembled. These are the areas where moisture and mold usually appear. The external insulation covers them without interruption.
- You don't lose space inside the house. The work is done from the outside.
- New look. The final plaster is available in more than 1,000 colors.
- Best energy category. Wall insulation is one of the key interventions for upgrading the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). The energy audit shows how much your home will increase in value.
How does thermal insulation work
The work is done in 8 stages:
- Pre-processing. Before we begin, all the plumbing and electrical work related to the walls have been completed.
- Checking and preparing the wall. We check the flatness and clean up any loose spots, dust, grease, mold, and moisture. We repair with special materials any concrete that has detached or left the reinforcement exposed. Where the wall has materials that absorb differently, such as concrete and brick, we apply a water-soluble primer to make the surface uniform.
- Adhesive of the thermal insulation plates. We glue the panels with cement glue, in a cross-shaped arrangement. The gaps between the panels are filled with pieces of insulation when they exceed half a centimeter, or with polyurethane foam.
- Stripping and mechanical fixing. We rub the plates so that the surface becomes flat. Then we secure them further with special anchoring plugs, 6 per square meter.
- Reinforcement of corners and openings. We install corner brackets, water spouts where necessary, and expansion rod profiles. We install mesh pieces at the corners of the windows and doors to provide reinforcement.
- Basic layer with a mesh. We apply the base layer, about 4 millimeters thick, and then immerse the anti-alkaline glass mesh inside it so that it is completely covered.
- Final colored plaster. We apply a primer in the color you chose and then acrylic plaster in the same color, with a 1.5 millimeter grain size.
- Insulation and final inspection. We seal the points where the thermal insulation meets doors and windows and perform the final inspection.
The materials we use
| Lining | Material |
|---|---|
| Thermal insulation panels | NEOPOR THP EPS80, with thermal conductivity coefficient λ = 0.031 W/mK |
| Tile glue and reinforcements | AlfaFIX S2, cement-based |
| Mechanical fixation | Locking plugs, 6 per m² |
| Basic layer | AlfaFIX S1 or S11, thickness approximately 4 mm |
| Armament | Anti-alkaline glass pane, and 20 × 30 cm pieces at the corners of the openings |
| Stained concrete | STOMIX HC-4, in the color of the final plaster |
| Final straw | BetaDEKOR AF 15, acrylic, grain 1.5 mm, over 1,000 colors |
When external insulation is not being done
In an apartment or building where the appearance cannot be changed, we seal the walls from the inside with the N-Thermon system from NEOTEX. The panels have a thickness of only 9 mm, so the space lost is minimal.
The system has five layers:
- Antimicrobial adhesive
- 9 mm expanded polystyrene plates
- Binding mortar with gravel sand
- Alkaline glass fiber
- White porous Deplast cement, elastic and fireproof
Why choose Nasco
- A specific system, specific materials. We are not generally talking about «isolation». You already know what goes into each layer.
- The entire energy upgrade from one point. In addition to thermal facades, we undertake frames, roof insulation, heat pumps, boilers and solar water heaters.
- Since 2008, with an exhibition in Agia Paraskevi. You will find us at 482 Mesogaios Avenue.
Thermoproofing with a subsidy
Thermal insulation is one of the energy upgrading works covered by the subsidy programs, such as the «Renovation of a Residential Home.» If your home qualifies, the program’s terms and the engineer will determine that. We can help you check this before applying.
Frequently asked questions
What should have been done before the heat treatment?
Any plumbing and electrical work that involves the exterior walls. If you are thinking of changing the windows as well, please tell us from the beginning so that we can plan the sequence of the work together.
Can I choose a color?
Yes. The final finish coat is available in more than 1,000 colors.
How much does a thermal facade cost?
It depends on the square footage, the condition of the walls and the access to the facades. That’s why the price is given after we see the building.
Is it done in an apartment?
If external insulation is not feasible, we seal the walls from the inside, using the thin system described above.
